Hi! I've been posting for sometime now, and I figured now is as good as any to introduce myself!
My name is Okie... yes, that's what I'm actually called in real life... it's a nick name that sort of stuck!
I am a veterinary technician for the local SPCA medical center. I've been a vet tech for over 3 years, and have been volunteering since I was fourteen. We're not the typical SPCA medical center... most only do spay/neuter and vaccines... we are a full service medical center, and all procedes go to support the animals in the adoption center. We are VERY high volume, so I see a LOT of different cases. We have lots of doctors on staff, including a board certified behaviorist (which is nice to have with the unruly patients!), so I've learned alot of different methods! All of this is very good for me, because I'm starting my undergrad for veterinary school this summer! YAY!
I have four inside cats, one outside, and a spastic border collie wanna-be! My cats are a wild tortie female named Jenny (Known as PegLeg), a white DSH female named CJ, my white DSH CH/Vestibular Disease/Not-so-smart (though I love her!) female kitty named Annie, and my orange tabby male named Billy. My outside kitty is a tortie name Tortie... I know, it's real original, but the thought was not to name her so I wouldn't get attached... that worked out real well, didn't it?
And last but not least, my spastic border collie wanna-be named Zoey! (Who likes to herd the cats!
)
So... that's a little (okay, a lot) about me! I am sometimes a bit sarcastic (in a playful - you're my buddy- kind of way), cause that's just me! So, hopefully we can get to know each other more!
Okie
