Given that most Australian states don't even allow you to own ferrets, I'd be very surprised if you were allowed to own an ocelot (anywhere in the world!) unless you had a zoo license!

Yes, they are on the endangered list. However, as with most exotic cats sold here in the USA, these cats are not taken out of the wild, they come from breeders. (Although I am not familiar with any breeders here in the USA) I am not familiar with the laws in Australia, so I can not help you there. Legally, you would not be able to have a wild Ocelot, because they are a protected species. You would have to find a breeder and it must be legal for you to own one.Originally Posted by abbycats
