So about 10 weeks ago I found a stray cat, and she turned out to be pregnant. She was a bit underweight when I found her, but otherwise seemed healthy (had the vet look at her and she tested negative for FELV/FIV). Well now the kittens are just over 4 weeks (5 kittens, all healthy and fat!) and Missy cat has lost so much weight! She had put on a bit of weight before she had the kittens, but after she had them she started to lose it again. When I noticed she was losi g weight I decided to put her on a higher calorie food (I had her on Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover's Soul, and switched to Nutrisource Pure Vita Chicken Entree). She is free fed dry food and gets 3/4-1 can (5.5oz) of Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul wet food per day. She eats plenty of food and is producing lots of milk, but her spine and hip bones stick out, and she has a very pronounced waist. I don't know what to do! Does anyone have any idea of what I can do to help her put on weight?
Also I have started weaning the kittens, they get 2 meals of the wet food mushed up with a bit of water and some kitten milk every day.
Any help is appreciated!
