First off, I hope this is the right place to post this - it doesn't really belong in 'care' I don't think, and while it could be sort of controversial, I don't really think it is (and besides that, I can't post in IMO anymore anyway now that I've lost almost all of my posts!
), so I hope it's okay here!
I was reading an article the other day about a town in Utah that only allows people to own either two cats or two dogs, but no more than that and not both a dog and a cat! Which got me thinking about bylaws that restrict the number of pets that can be owned - I do think that in urban and suburban areas, there needs to be some kind of limit on pets (other than for professional bredders, and pet rescues, etc.), but I think that a two pet restriction is way, way too low. My city has a six pet restriction - a combination of up to six dogs, cats and rabbits, with no more than three of the six being dogs is allowed, and I think this is very reasonable. I wanted to see what others think, so a few questions:
- Does your city/town/county restrict the number of pets you can own?
- If so, how many cats can be owned? How many pets in total?
- If your city does have restrictions, do you follow them?
- What do you think is a reasonable number of pets (dogs, cats and rabbits) for someone (a non-profesional not involved in breeding or rescue) living in an urban or suburban area to own?
- How few pets does restriction have to allow before you'd consider it unreasonable? Eg. is two cats to few to be allowed to own?
Just curious to see some opinions!
