Not Using the scratching post?

Hello,

Need some suggestions. Our cats have 2 scratching posts with cat nip applied. One post is carpet, the other rope wound on the post. Cats do not use; instead, they use the trim around the doors to claw.

What are your suggestions?? Thanks,

Do you trim their claws?  Maybe they don't like the feel of the scratchers. Try one of the horizontal cardboard ones.  I keep several chunks of oak firewood for mine to use when they want to feel like wild cats marking a tree.

Have you tried sprinkling them with catnip.
