A loquat is a fruit tree. You can eat the fruit. I can't explain what they taste like but they are good.

The reason that the county puts a trap in my tree is to see if there are any Mediterranean Fruit Flies in it. They were a big problem for CA crops awhile back. If there are flies, they will be in the trap because they love loquats.

Thank you so much for asking that!! I wondered the same thing, and after reading the post I just assumed that was a local euphenism for....ummm...bodily parts that were...ummm...exposed? I mean, come on..."Not MY loquats you don't!"

Ummm..learn something new everyday. But, I don't think I'll EVER be able to try a loquat now without cracking up!
