Driving myself insane.

Out of nowhere my cat on Sunday started throwing up. I waited until like 4th time to take him to ER vet. They could not find anything wrong other than he would cry out if his tummy was touched. So they did a pancreatitis test, it was negative.

I took him home with anti nausea med and gabapentin. He seemed better leaving the vet which is good but probably because of the meds.
My cat does not do well with pills or oral syringes. Good chance you'll lose a finger... And he will spit out pills. But either way he threw up the meds anyways.
He spent the rest of the night just not moving and holding still all night long. He continued to not eat or drink. He peed once, probably from fluids the vet gave him.
Today while I was at work I had someone take him to our main vet. They looked at him and found no issue during the physical exam. No pain anymore I guess but I haven't tried to really pick him up. They did Xray, no issues. I was told they were going to give us injectable versions of the vomiting meds since he's such a finger eater... But I guess my mom missed that part and didn't get them... Or I heard wrong.

I hit home from work and here we are again...
He's holding still.
Not eating.
Not drinking.
Haven't seen him use his box.
But I haven't seen him vomit yet but the night is young.

The vet will call tomorrow to see how he's doing and all I can say is.. The same...

Anyone able to weigh in? I'm getting frustrated

Sorry your cat is not feeling well :grouphug:

Did any vet do blood work on the cat? If not, insist on having that done.

Is the cat indoors only? Could the cat have eaten something harmful like a plant or licked household cleaner residue?

Have you tried Pill Pockets or other method to get pills in?

I would get a referral to a specialist. Unfortunately other vets are wasting precious time and your money. Ask your vet for a federal. Something is obviously very wrong with your cat. I am sorry.

And pill pockets won't work because he's not eating at all. Or drinking water. Tomorrow he goes back to the vet and if they call me saying they can't find anything ill request the referral.

Hello! Hope you've taken your cat back to the vet.
I'm currently going through the same thing with my kitten- threw up on Saturday, lethargic, abdominal pain.
Took her to the vet, xrays and blood tests found nothing, sent back home with fluids and gabapentin. She was the same on Sunday (lethargic, not eating, feverish) so I rushed her back into the emergency clinic.

They performed an ultrasound on her and found some problems with her kidneys- a lovely combo of a kidney cyst, one abnormal kidney structure (likely genetic) and a kidney infection.
They sent her back with gabapentin and some antibiotics, and it seems like she's doing slightly better.

Has your vet proposed any other tests to run yet

Update.

Vet ran blood tests all were fine other than dehydration and electrolytes off a little. They gave him iv fluids all day yesterday plus anti nausea and anti heartburn.

Vet said to try canned food to see if it would be easier on him to eat than dry food.

Problem is that he isn't eating or drinking. I'm not sure if it's because he fears getting sick again or not. He is probably not happy with us since his purring is really soft but he wasn't purring last few days so that's improving.

Food and water is the issue...
