I have had my 7 month old kitten for 4 months. My mother was petting him yesterday and noticed something that I never had before. She said that it looks like his tail has been broken. Sure enough, when I felt it, I noticed that the very tip of it is bent and crooked. It feels like the bone (?) in the tail is bent at a weird angle. It has never seemed to bother him, and I have no idea if the tail was that way since birth, if it happened at the foster home, or at my home. I know that I have stepped on his tail a couple of times before (he is always underfoot). I hope that I did not break his tail. Since it is just at the very tip and doesn't bother him, I am not sure if it warrants a vet visit or not.
This could be a genetic thing. I have heard that Siamese cats can have a kink in their tails. He was described to me as a "Siamese mix" when I adopted him. He does have the pointed markings and blue eyes, but I have no way of knowing for sure how much, if any Siamese he has in him. None of his siblings look like him. Could a cat that is not 100% Siamese (or not at all) be born with a kinked tail, or do you think he could have injured himself? I would feel really bad if I broke his tail somewhere along the way by stepping on it or something.
