Luna, 10.5 year old female, had an enema performed on Wed afternoon. The vet said her stool was backed up a bit but what they flushed out was soft stool. (She hadn't pooped from Fri, Sept 30, while at the vet until the enema on Wed. Tues night I picked up lactulose for her. The vet said wait 3-4 days for poop. I didn't want it to go that long so I took her in on Wed for x ray and enema)
Since Say, Oct.1. She has been on metronidazole and Zeniquin for unknown cause of high liver enzymes and low RBC counts. (Low RBC, low MCH, normal MCV, high MCHC). She was anaemic. Now I am seeing signs of the anaemia reversing, less yellow clumps in her urine and pinkness back in her eyes and ears.
She is on wet food, has a good appetite, is hydrated, just not pooping. She is separated from our other 2 cats, so I can keep tabs on the poop. She urinates in her box.
Is it normal for a cat on these antibiotics and lactulose, to not poop for a few days after an enema???
