Hello everyone, my name is Allison, and I have a 3-4 year old calico named Oaful Marie Tubufu. She's the first cat I've owned, besides the family cat long ago, named Pollyanna. We got Polly when I was 8, and she died before she was a year old--she got a piece of floss looped under her tongue into her throat that was collecting hair. When it started blocking food, we took her to the vet, who treated her for a parasite. She got worse quick and we took her somewhere else who correctly diagnosed her and operated. She was on the mend, but was too weak and died.
It was thoroughly heart wrenching and we never got another family pet. I got Oaful two and a half years ago from a co-worker who took her in from a friend's family--the dad was going to take Oaf and a sibling up to U.S. Steel and let them loose
. Oaful is a sweetheart; shy around unknown people, loving to me and my hubby Eric, though she's not a lap kitty. She's very tolerant of being picked up, and sometimes she really likes it
. She doesn't do anything she's not supposed to, like jumping on the countertops or scratch up furniture though she has all her claws. I'll put up pics of her soon--she's got a very pink nose, a totally white belly, and big spots of bright orange and black, green eyes that look gold in certain light, and black ears with white hairs growing out sideways from inside. She loves to bat around balls like a professional soccer player and she plays the cutest game that we call "Pooofy Tail" every morning after she gets her food. I came on here originally to get some advice about a couple incidents she had in the last six months, and Oafie was recently diagnosed with epilepsy--she's had two seizures in the last 6 months, but didn't showed any signs of this before
. I really love all cats, and I'm obsessed with my Oaf, and it's nice to find a place where other people feel the same and support each other in good times and bad!
Thanks!
