Hi, my name is Jenny. Me and my grandmother recently adopted a black and white cat from an shelter. Her name originally was Oreo, we thought that someone at the shelter didn't really know a male cat from a female cat. I'll show pictures of her later.

Welcome to TCS! So, you've changed her name? What is it now? I'll really look forward to seeing pictures of her!

Hello and welcome to The Cat Site. :wave2: And congratulations on the adoption of your new kitty. :bouquet:

Shelters often pick unusual names, and I think it's quite common for the new "parents" to rename the cat. I renamed my Ruby when I adopted her, and she quickly started responding to her new name.

If you decide to rename her, here's an article on How To Choose The Best Name For Your New Cat

Looking forward to seeing pics of your black and white girl. :camera:

When we adopted two of our cats from the SPCA, they were naming cats after nuts, as in "Brazil" and "Hazel" and things like that. :rolleyes2: We renamed them Zoe and Rico and they adjusted quickly to their new names.
