I came across this site while looking for answers to keep a chronically ill cat well. I have actually had more experience with dogs these are my first two cats and I guess that is why I have been overwhelmed with a cat that has what a feline specialist thinks is chronic pancreatitis. Patches is my little guy that has been sick several times already. He will be three in May and was rescued by a co-worker when he was only about three weeks old. She already had four dogs and five cats and asked me to take him. I sometimes wonder if the early separation from his mother is the reason for his chronic health problems. When he is between episodes, which is the vast majority of the time, he is a happy and very active cat. He is very sweet I have never heard him hiss even when I brought Alice home five monthes after I got him. They even played a little the first night I had her. She will be three in October and so far there have been no health problems with her. I have heard her hiss many times. She puts poor Patches through three days of hissing at him when he comes home from the Vet. I am looking forward to getting to know the people on the forum. I probably don't have a lot to offer since I am such a novice with cats.
