Greetings to all,
I have had my cat Mavro since he was about 2 months old. He is a little bit over a year now. He has been prety good about using his litter box to urinate, but once in a while he would use one certain bed in the house to pee one. He would only do it once in a while, so we didn't see it as a problem. We just put a litter box in that room, and he would just use the liter box instead, most of the times.
I am not sure if this is related, but we had a few workers come in the house and do some remodeling work for 3 days, and thats when his peeing habits got bad. He still uses his litter box to poop, but about one time a day he will urinate somewhwere else. I took him to vet and had him checked for UTI, and also his blood, and they sayed he was in good health.
Until he stops his habbit, he is limited to one level of the house. I have filled the entire level with about 12 different citrus scented air freshners, and those seemed to work at first, but now he just urinates a few feet away from them. He pees on cloathes, and my room has this window sill that he loves to pee on. If I put an air freshner or orange peels on the spot he peed before, he will just move down to the other side of the ledge a few feet away and pee there.
Today I let him come upstairs with me as I followed him, and he was sniffing our fake christmas tree, then peed behind it. We have two litter boxes for him in the level that he is confined at. They are about 60 feet away from each other, both dont have tops. I have tryed switching his kitty litter to a unscented type, but all I found at Petco was a corn kennel type, that is prety expensive. Any other alternatives?
He isn't neutered yet, I set an apoitment for him but that isn't for about 2 more weeks. I hope this fixes it, as my family is prety fed up with my cat. We all love him, but we can't him peeing outside the litter box.
Maybe he is trying to tell us that there is something wrong, but I can't imagine what it is...
He stands by the door that leads to the other levels of the house, and he meaows. If we let him go, he will run very quickly and most likely pee somewhere.
After he eats, he does go use his litter box for poop, then walks around and tryes to find a different place to pee. He may come back to the litter box, sniff it for a second, and walk away back to trying to find a place in the house to pee. Please help me..Thanks
