Hi. I posted yesterday about the newborn kittens and fleas - thanks for the great advice.
Now I have a new concern.
Last night about midnight, Mom decided to move the kittens into my daughters bedroom closet. It took her a long time to move all of the kittens. She would move one and leave the rest. In fact, she seemed to forget the last kitten entirely until I finally brought it to her.
Since then she has been leaving them quite frequently. It's as if she forgets they are there. They are only 4 days old. I am very concerned. After about an hour of being away from them, I take her back to them and place her in the box at which point she meows at me several times and finally settles in with the babies. We have repeated this process several times last night and this morning already. I don't know what to think. I have read how new Mom's are very attentive - yet she seems, at least since last night, anything but attentive. They meow and she looks towards the room but does not always go to them. It's very strange. I am concerned they won't get enough to eat.
Thanks for any advice you can give me on this strange behavior. Maybe it is perfectly normal - I am not sure. I guess I just understood that a new Mom will not leave her kittens unless she is eating or going to the bathroom - yet this Mom wants to sit and stare out the window or lay around someplace else.
Thanks,
Tami
