Hello, this is Kem with her two cats Beavis and Bryn

I joined this website to learn more about cats even tho I grew up with cats!!   I am wondering how do you help a new cat break the habit of peeing in a different area other than the litterbox?

Welcome to The Cat Site.
There may be many reasons why a cat is peeing outside the litter box, ranging from not liking the texture of the cat littler, to not liking the size/shap of the litter box, to it not being clean enough, to a urinary tract infection. It may be a behaviorial issue--or medical.
