Just a quick intro of me and my furfamily.....
We are a foster family for a private rescue and for our local HS. I have 4 "normal" cats, and 3 special needs, all rescues.
Our special needs gals are:
Shotgun - came to me with a broken pelvis and front leg. Everything healed up fine but she is of a very feral personality and even I can't touch her unless I corner her in a closed room and catch her, and prepare for the scratchin'. But she lives quite happily in the house and has our other kitties as friends, instead of human interaction.
Trip - sweet sweet Trip came to me as a 6 week old outside kitten that the owner was facing having to decide whether or not to euthanize her because she was born with cerebellar hypoplasia. I ****love**** CH kitties, so I agreed to take her, vet her, and eventually find her the perfect special needs home. Turns out, I got quite attached, so she was a foster failure and she's ours for keeps now. ;-) She is moderate/severe, so she has special litterboxes, and isn't too steady on her feet, but she is an active crazycat and doesn't know the meaning of 'disability'.
Yoga - she came to stay here for a weekend so I could express her bladder/bowels when the vet clinic was closed. She was found with a broken pelvis and spine. I decided to keep her here for healing and care for her until we could find a home for her as well. Well. Turns out "planning to find homes" for the special needs guys isn't my best idea cuz she is here to stay too. ;-) She won't regain use of her back legs, nor use of her bladder or bowels so I express her a couple times a day, and she does have a cart to get her up and moving (though she does amazing without it too!) Yoga is my profile picture kitty. :-)
Yoga and Trip have their own fb page too, but I'm not sure what the rules are on link sharing so I won't post it. But they spend a lot of their time together, and seem to enjoy being different with someone else that's different too. ;-)
Nice to meet everyone!
