Hello everyone! I would like to start out this introduction by thanking all the knowledgeable people contributing to this site. I have been lurking for a few weeks and have learned many important things ranging from dietary needs to behavioral issues.
Well lets introduce the culprit, I named him Turkey.
When my girlfriend found him he was in bad shape, very weak and covered in fleas. She gave him a lukewarm bath and we began the process of picking all the fleas off him. I used a pair of hemostats to just crush them and then brushed them out as gently as I could. It was late in the evening when we found him so our only option was a local walmart to go get the bare essentials.
After a weeks time his health had really improved and he was tearing around the house and meowing up a storm. We found some growth charts online and estimate him at 4 weeks old when we took him in. Thankfully he got a clean bill of health from the vet and I made sure I had him tested for everything. I really wish I had taken more pictures of him back then but I was still kind of apprehensive about taking in a cat during the first few weeks.
Here he is at about 2 months. He loves to sit on my workbench when I am working on various projects, he also seems to have a preference for yugoslavian AK's.
I also chopped up a table and another piece of furniture that I hated and built him a nice kitty house.
He is certainly a creature of habit and he knows my daily routine perfectly. Whenever I get home he rushes to every window as I walk around the house and greets me when I come in.
Here he is this morning guarding the sink that he knows I need to use.
I never thought I would be a cat person but this guy is my little buddy!
I kind of feel bad keeping him inside but there are many strays around my area and I worry for his safety. I think I am going to build him a nice outdoor enclosure very soon, perhaps I will make a thread on that here in the coming weeks.
