Hi everyone! My name is Mary Catherine and I've been an Animal Care Tech at my local humane society for about 1.5 years now. I grew up with one cat, basically my brother, but when he passed a few years ago when I was in college, my parents didn't want to get another cat right away.
Well this month, I graduated from college (B.A. in English and Hispanic Studies) and my dad retired. I brought him into my shelter to look at kittens and he found his dream-cat, a gray feisty boy. Dad's kitten had a sister so we ended up bringing both home. I'd figured I'd adopt a cat this fall before (hopefully) heading to graduate school in the fall, however this little girl seems to be mine now!
I've been told her color is called a smoke-tabby, though that's just conjecture from the internet, and is easier than trying to explain her markings.
My only problem so far is that my favorite cats have always been super affectionate males, and she's extremely aloof! She'll tolerate petting but she certainly isn't a snuggler, so I'm a little disappointed in that regard as I'm used to cats under my covers and in my business all the time. I'm hoping she'll grow to love me a little more as time passes!
Edit: I've been having a lot of trouble picking a name for her. I'm wavering between Indy and Annie. I had been calling her Indy and I really want a sort of special name for her. I didnt think she seemed super feminine and she is very aloof, so I thought Indy fit her. But for some reason, Annie keeps popping up everywhere. She loves my computer and hopped around on the keys and somehow opened up my music player and a song (one I've never listened to) by Anna Ternheim came on. I keep thinking maybe she's telling me she's an Annie even if I don't like the name! XD
