My husband joined this board about 4 years ago to ask a question about his cat...and we recently adopted a blind kitty and remembered this site. So I decided to take over his old username, and post about our kitty and other cats. Thought I would take a minute and introduce our cats!
We have 7 kitties and one stray we are taking care of.
Jake-oldest cat, he was a cat my husband rescued from a shelter, and is big, fat and loves to cuddle. He is very loving and takes on the "mama" cat role even though he is a boy. He likes to lounge and flick his tail around when there are kittens around so the kittens can play. If he sees a window or door open, even a few inched, he tries to escape. We lost him two winters ago during a bad cold spell...he was gone for over a month when temps reached below 0 a few times...we set out a humane trap and finally caught him again.
He is 7.5 y/o and a grey stripey cat,
Jane-6 y/o. Hubby had her mama cat, who looked just like her only the mama was tiny. She is roly poly, and the dominant female cat of the house. Hates being held but loves to cuddle on her terms. She likes to gently nip someones arm if she has been begging to get petted and someone wont. She is a grey stripey and looks a lot like Jake.
Punky-5. Sibling of Jane, all grey, fuzzy. Kind of a loner, likes to sleep in the bed though.
Henry Peep-4.5. Also a sibling of Punky/Jane. Mama cat was Angie (passed last year) that my husband had. She was tiny as a kitten, and when she went into heat she pushed the screen from my husbands apartment and escaped, ending up pregnant. He was finally able to get her fixed after this litter. Henry was the runt and sickly...Hubby bottle fed him and helped him get healthy and now Henry loves Hubby more than anything, and sleeps curled up next to him every single night.(literally almost spooning) He is tan/grey with pretty markings.
Katie-1. We found her mama and found her a home...the mama was pregnant and we didn't know. Her new owner did not want the kittens, and we took one for them. She had never been held until we took her at 6 weeks old...she is not into being held or even cuddling at all. We are trying to work on it though...she loves to play with Joey though and has been better since we got him. She is small for 1, and has shiny black fur with white on her belly and feet.
Joey-13ish weeks old. Someone was giving Joey away, their cat had kittens and didn't want them. he is beautiful cream/light orange, loves to cuddle and play, purrs louder than any cat I have seen and is amazing. He is shaping up to be a chunky cat and we spoil him.
Billy-12 weeks old. We were going to stop after Joey, but Billy was about to be taken to the shelter and we could not bear the thought of him being killed at a shelter for being blind. So we took him in and he is awesome. He is a runt, looks a lot younger, has dark grey/black stripes and is so smart! He is a wonderful addition to our home. (There is a post about him in the Cat Health forum)
Okay, if you are still reading...thanks for reading about our kitties!! We love them all! We are lucky that we have enough room for these kitties and can provide them with loving care. We call our guest room the "cat room" because the cats sleep on the bed, have toys in it, and a cat tree by the window. I am glad to have found a place where people love kitties like we do!
