Georgia has been living with us for 2 weeks now.
I expected a little adjustment to her new diet, but it's a little extreme. It seems like she's had soft stools or diarrhea every day since she's been here. One night she was in our bedroom with the door closed over night and couldn't wait till she had access to the litter box, so she went on the floor! (we keep our bedroom door open after that....)
Our breeder said that she used to just eat kibble at her place and she gave us a sample of her food, so for the first few days we gave her a mixture of her old kibble and the kind we feed here, but now we're out of the sample.
Another new addition to her diet is wet food. Our cats share wet food every night. We normally mix it with pumpkin, because Samson used to have issues with loose stools and that really worked to firm them up. So Georgia has been eating the pumpkin too. But it's not helping her at all!!
Maybe the wet food just doesn't agree with her?
I suppose I could not let her eat it for a few days and see if that helps.
Problem is she LOVES it. And I want her to get adjusted to eating it, since it's good for her, she loves it, and it's what we feed our other cats.
I tried to make her rice with a little plain turkey meat, but she had NO interest.
I suppose I could get her tested for worms but it's VERY unlikely. She was an indoor cat, well taken care of, and I think this is a problem that surfaced when she moved here, so new diet and stress are probably to blame.
Any suggestions?
Does she just need more time?
Should I give her a break from wet food and see what happens?
