Hi all,
This is my first post after lurking these forums for a while.
Almost exactly a year ago, I adopted a young (now 2.5 or so) DSH tabby named Sloan (formerly Samoa.) He is very chatty, VERY high-energy, silly and mischievous, but occasionally very affectionate and loves head scratches. On his terms, of course. He is my first cat after growing up with dogs, so it was a little bit of a learning curve, but we're doing well now.
This is Sloan:
Now, the day before yesterday, I adopted a DLH who is about 2 years old named Sirius (formerly Hendrix.) So far he mostly likes to hang out under the bed, but comes out for food and snuggles at night while I'm in bed. (He loves to knead my face while he just purrs away.)
Here is Sirius:
The issue I'm noticing:
When you scratch Sirius or give him any attention, he feels...gritty. That's really the only way to describe it. When he sleeps in bed with me, in the morning there is "debris" on the bed...little pieces of dirt, fuzz, etc. I'm assuming some of this is from laying under the bed (where I can't really vacuum,) but I'm wondering if cat grooming is a thing? I worry that this might make him uncomfortable or that he's not grooming properly.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
