Hi, I just came upon this site and think it is great....so informative and friendly. One word of warning...I don't post often, but when I do I tend to ramble. Sorry, but like probably everyone else here I just loooove talking about my critters.
I live on an acreage in the sticks. I currently have 5 indoor cats and 4 outside guys, 1 very patient border collie and 13 pet ducks.
It's wintery here now so the outside ones spend most of their time (and every night) in the heated garage. I've had George and Harley for a couple of years and they get along fine, but the other two were this summers dump-offs and unfortunately aren't fitting in. I'm taking them in for neutering on Monday and then, sadly will relinquish them to a NK sanctuary. The biggest one got into a scrap with my Harley and bit him so badly on his neck I had to take him in for stitches yesterday. I'm confident he will be fine, but I sure didn't need that extra expense. Oh well, I just hope they find good forever homes.
All my critters were strays or rescues. The 5 inside ones came about because I brought home a cute little female that was going to the spca. Unfortunately she was pregnant...hence 4 kittens. All are grown now and "fixed" and create whatever daily havoc they can. We love their antics so don't mind giving them their household freedom. They have almost more furniture, beds, pillows etc. then we do.
And trying to fit in around all this is my poor dog. As you can imagine, cats being cats, they try everything they can to bug and torment her. But, she gets back at them plenty too!
I had to put my Scooter girl down this summer (cancer). That's where my name comes from (obviously). Losing her is still very fresh. She was my lone companion for many years and, even with all these other purring cuddlers I still miss the heck out of her.
Anyway, enough for this "hello" post. I will enjoy reading about all your kits and hopefully be able to contribute something from time to time.
Cheers,
Corinne
