So I have a little bit of a weird problem here, my new little monster won't eat dry food. From reading through the forums I see that everyone else seems to have the exact opposite problem to me hahaha. Now, before you call me crazy stick with me for a moment! Neither my boyfriend nor I want to feed the kitten a diet high in dry food but, we have a weekend event coming up and both of us will have very conflicting schedules and being able to leave dry food out would certainly ease some of the stress we are looking at. Our plan from the beginning was to feed mainly wet food but have a small amount of dry food always available in case Loki needed to nibble between meals, but from day one he wouldn't touch it. We got Loki from the local spca, so we know he is used to dry food but he absolutely won't go near it, he'll even pick it out of wet food if I try to get sneaky and mix it in. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Oh and as a super bonus round question, are these wet foods okay for cats?
We use these in rotation:
Nutro Max (kitten)
-Chicken & Oceanfish
-Chicken & Liver
Blue buffalo Wilderness(kitten)
-Chicken
-Salmon
Blue buffalo healthy gormet (kitten)
-Chicken
Natures variety (all life stages)
-Salmon
-Pork
-Beef
-Lamb LID
-Duck LID
Wellness (kitten)
-Chicken
Fancy feast (kitten) his least favorite and likely to be dropped soon
-Ocean whitefish
-Turkey
Misc.
- I give him occasional raw scraps from whatever meat meal I am making (I hope that's not bad to do)
We tried other (cheaper...) brands but he just turned his nose up at it, my cat has expensive taste hahahaha.
EDIT: As for the dry food we have tried Iams, Command (the brand they used at the spca), Blue buffalo kitten, and Fancy Feast dry. We tried them on their own, powdered and rehydrated, mixed with water, and mixed with wet food. None of it worked
