OK - word of advice - never ever stop at a Dunkin Donuts in the woods and get anything more than a cup of coffee (paid for by cash!).
Long story short - I stopped at a DD in the middle of nowhere while on vacation and decided to refill my gift card while I was there ($20) and buy a new gift card for someone else ($20). I use the card all the time, I never use cash at DD. Well, after literally 30 minutes the lady cant' figure out how to do a gift card. (
I thought that was an everyday thing at DD). So I say forget it and leave.
Well - I get home from vacation and look at my bank statement - $40 charge from DD, but I left with NO gift cards. So I call them and explain. Well, they can't do Credit card refunds. The new machines they have won't do them. To which I respond - I find that very very hard to believe since we are all human and plain and simple - we make mistakes. I tell her to call corporate and get some answers (she's the manager btw and I'm telling her how to handle it). She calls back and tells me she thinks she's figured it out. Great I say! 3 days later I look at my bank statement again - another charge for $40. Now I'm in the hole for $80 and nothing to show for it.
So I call back again and tell her what happened also telling her this is my billing account and my bills are going out in 2 days and I must have the $80 back in there or I will bounce a check. 2 days go by and guess what? I bounce 2 checks! $56 charge.
Long story short it took me 2 weeks and numerous long distance phone calls to the DD and the corporate office to get my money back and I learned my lesson. After buying what basically turned out to be $140.40 cup of coffee ($4.40 for the coffees, $40 charge times 2, $56 bounced checks) - I will never stop at a DD in the middle of the woods again!
