I let our neighbours cat in to our house every now and then, as she has a pretty crappy family. I brought her in the other day when I noticed 2 big male cats were after her. I thought it was odd at first as my neighbour had told me she was spayed...well long story short I walked in on my neutered male mounted on her and going full steam. That's when I realized she wasn't spayed and was indeed in heat. I've been reading some articles as I am fully freaked out...I honestly didn't know a neutered male cat would still have the urge. Anyone else have this experience? What have you done? Right now I have her in one of our spare rooms set up, I don't think I can sleep with the idea of them out together in the house.
I just...I don't know, I never knew. He's neutered so there's not a chance there's anything left...is there? He was neutered in March of this year. It just makes me worry about our young girl too. She's just 6 months and hasn't gone into heat yet. We're getting her spayed in the January but it's just weird. Any advice?? I'm going to call my vet, but sadly I have to wait until Monday to do that.

I have a boy neutered at 10 weeks that mounts my breeding girls, then yodels like a stud boy after the 'deed' telling the neighbourhood of his studliness
. He is not actually mating them, but bites the neck and paddles his legs.

I would get the new girl speyed ASAP, just in case she mated - it doesn't take very long for them to mate. Also your younger girl needs to be done soon, it's not uncommon for girls to come into season before 6 months (I have one who called at 4 months), it's better to get them desexed before the first heat if you can.

Yah, we're getting her in as soon as the holidays are over. Question, when he mounts your cat but isn't actually doing anything, does his penis come out? Or is it just the motion that he does?

Wellington mounts Biscotte all the time - he is really quite sex-mad, but monogamous with it! And with them I think it is a form of affection, they don't always do it in the classic mating position, but sometimes lying down face to face. And they purr and lick each other's faces before and after. Milo occasionally tries to mount one of the girls, but with him it is play and domination, and they usually whack him hard. It is not unusual for male neuters to do this, usually as a domination threat, and instinct will come into play, especially if a girl is in heat. Normally there is no erection involved, but I have seen Wellington's once or twice.

Oh ok. I only asked because when I saw them last night I checked because I wasn't sure what was going on and he was erect. So, I just wasn't sure if that was a normal thing or not.

wilbur had his berries removed about a year ago. Tinker got her spay about 9 months ago.

Sometimes when they're sleeping, Wilbur will wake up and meow really goofy. then he slowly half mounts Tinker and bites her neck a little. She kicks him off, but he does it often.

I think he just does it out of confusion, but it doesn't hurt anything.

Sorry, I can't really help.Billy gets no where near our girls to even do this, even though he tries with Floss she whacks him one. I'm sure its just harmless. x

wow...kitty porn!
I have a male that has been yowling as if he is a she in heat. He has a twig and berries (he's fixed, but they left the berries and just snipped the lines), so unless he is a hermaphrodite...he gets mounted all the time by our neutered males. I suspect it is not so much a sex thing as it could be a dominance thing. I wish I could help the OP of this thread. I was told by my vet when my boys were fixed that I should keep them apart from my girls for about a month, just to be sure. If your boy has been fixed for almost a year, unless the vet screwed up, I think you are okay.

I look at it like this, a man who has a vasectomy can still have sex, but he just shoots blanks. It is probably the same for cats.

Please someone correct me if I am wrong.

I do agree, as soon as the new year comes, get your girl fixed, and if you plan to keep the neighbor cat, she should probably be taken into the vet and get a check. The vet could tell you best if she was indeed spayed or not.

oh it's way different than a vasectomy. It's comparible to castration. Removal of the testicles in cats also drastically effects their hormones. Whereas a vasectomy probably wouldn't because it doesn't remove anything,
