Feeling so heartbroken. Had to put my cat down last night. All came out of nowhere. She couldn't walk she had been to two different vets over two days. They said they believed it was neurological. Her front paws had become paralyzed and she could no longer go the toilet by herself. She was meant to be five this month. She wouldn't react to any medication or steroids which the vets said was not normal. The vets contacted specialists that said even if I had paid thousands for an MRI scan that I would still probably not of been able to cure her because it was so specialist whatever condition/ disease she had. She was fine last week. I am so heartbroken right now. I wasn't expecting this. I don't know whether she was born with it ... There were no signs she was so normal until a few days ago. She wasn't exactly old for a cat. I just wish I knew what happened with her. Really struggling to cope today

Oh, I am truly sorry for your loss. That is so sad how your precious cat become so ill so quickly. I know it can happen, but it is truly sad. At just five years old, she was still so young. So so sad, especially the not knowing what truly made her ill. My heart goes out to you. May your little one rest in peace!

The not knowing, or understanding, why we have to lose such a special part of our lives is heartbreaking, my heart goes out to you. I'm glad you had the strength to do what was humane and not have her suffer, you gave her a last act of love that truly broke your heart. Please don't  go down that path of guilt and blame, this was something that was truly above anyone's control and I believe that what you did was the only option that was right. I know the pain is horrendous right now, and the hole in your heart will take a long time to heal. But you two shared a love for almost 5 years and that is something that can never be taken away.  You two were destined to find each other, and you were there for her when she needed you the most, there is no truer love than that. The world is a little darker place right now without her in it, but the Rainbow Bridge has gained another beautiful star. Please accept my condolences, your pain is my pain, take care of yourself. RIP sweet baby, you were greatly loved in your short life, and will never be forgotten!

I'm so sorry for your loss.
We, too, had a cat that developed neurological problems and had to be PTS.  It was so sudden, just as you said.  Lab work showed possible heavy metal poisoning and the vet also questioned if Marshmallow had been hit by a car, but he was an inside only cat.  Since we wanted to bring him home for burial, we did not have an autopsy done.  His death will forever remain a mystery.  Bless you and may your heart heal soon.

I TOO HAD TO HAVE MY CAT PUT TO SLEEP DUE TO SHOWING NEUROLOGICAL SIGNS HE STARTED GOING ROUND AND ROUND IN CIRCLES. BEFORE ALL THAT HE STARTED MAKING SNORTING/GRUNTING NOISES MEDICATION DID NOT HELP NOR STERIODS, XRAY CAME BACK ENTEROCOCCUS NO MEDICATION HELPED. HE WAS BACK AND FORTH TO THE VETS THE SAME AS YOU TOLD REFERRAL MIGHT NOT FIND ANYTHING OR THEY MIGHT FIND SOMETHING THEY COULD NOT TREAT AND SAID IT WOULD COST £2,000 HE CHANGED IN SO MANY WAYS NOT JUMPING UP ON THINGS TO LOOK OUT OF WINDOWS NOT PLAYING OR INTERACTING, NOT LEAVING THE GARDEN UNLESS WE TOOK HIM FOR A WALK HE WOULD FOLLOW. WE HAD TAKEN IN FROM THE OWNER TWO YEARS AGO HE LIVED OUTSIDE MOST OF HIS LIFE TILL WE TOOK HIM IN TWO YEARS AGO HE WAS 13 YEARS OLD, BEING OUTSIDE MOST OF THE TIME WOULD HAVE SHORTENED HIS LIFE HE WAS EATING ANYTING UNTIL AS I HAVE SAID WE TOOK HIM IN. SADLY WHEN THE VET SAID HE'S SHOWING NEUROLOGICAL SIGNS IT WAS DECISION TIME FOR US IT WAS THE HARDEST THING ONE HAS TO DO THAT WAS 26TH JULY 2017 AND I HAVE NOT STOPPED CRYING AND FEEL SO GUILTY AT ENDING HIS LIFE, BUT DEEP DOWN I KNOW IT WAS THE BEST THING I COULD HAVE DONE FOR HIM. I MISS HIM EVERY SINGLE DAY AND CANNOT STOP CRYING. I FEEL SOMEWHAT A BIT BETTER HEARING SOMEONE ELSE HAD A CAT WITH NEUROLOGICAL SIGNS I HAVE TRIED GETTING THE VET TO SAY THEY HAD NOTICED THE SIGNS EARLIER BUT DID NOT LIKE TO SAY KNOWING WHAT THE OUTCOME WOULD BE, I WISH THEY WOULD AS I AM SURE I WOULD FEEL SO MUCH BETTER ABOUT LETTING HIM GO.

I am very sorry for your sudden loss, sometimes these bad things happen and we have no clue why, very sorry she had a short life but it was a great one I am sure. It is better to have a good short life than a long, bad one, I was told that years ago and it is true, but it is still so heartbreaking and sad and we understand, take some time and be kind to yourself, you did nothing wrong, did everything right, unfortunately it was just her time to go to the Bridge.

I hope that your heart heals a bit more each day, God Bless....:alright: :grouphug: :rbheart:
