Thanks, Otto. Believe me when I say, I wholeheartedly share your sentiment about BYB's...all 4 of my cats are rescues and I'm involved in national Sphynx rescue so I see way too often the ill effects of backyard breeding.Originally Posted by otto

I feel your dismay that he has passed this on, and it will continue to be passed on, but won't try to turn Nelson's thread into a thread against the evils of BYB.
I know you will give him the best care possible and love him to pieces for however long he has, and let him go when he's ready. Is this a common disorder for this breed?
Yes, unfortunately, HCM is very common among this breed. Reputable breeders scan their cats yearly for it...
