I adopted a stray cat from my workplace about 4 months ago.
I took her to a vet near me about 2 months ago. I wanted to see if she was already spayed ( because I believe she had a previous owner ). The vet clerk said they could look her over.
Well, I drove her to the vet place. Ended up waiting in the lobby for about 30 mins ( while she was freaking out in her cat box ). The vet ( who was really young and looked fresh out of vet school ), had trouble handling her. She wouldn't let him touch her and was getting really stressed out. I tried to hold her and she bit the heck out of me.
Eventually the vet wrapped her in a blanket, and took her in the back room. Came back about 5 mins later and said he thinks she is already spayed because he didn't think she was pregnant and that was the time of year that she would get pregnant.
Problem is, where I got her from there are no other cats ( that I know of ).
So I drove her home and she was really stressed at this point and balling her head off.
Then as a reward for my shelling out 70 bucks and going to all that hassle she sprays all over her cage just as I get home.
Fun stuff.
So I was considering getting her spayed ( for sure ), but I really don't want to go through that experience again.
Is there any real way to tell if she is already spayed?
