I logged onto this site because I needed LOTS of information. We just moved into a new house in a neighborhood full of strays. A few days ago I noticed a very pregnant, very young calico being chased up a tree by the nieghbors cats.
A few hours later, I managed to get her to come to me. My husband and I brought her into the house and put her in our utility room, borrowed a litter box and food from another neighnbor and decided to keep her safe until she was able to deliver.
That was Friday night. Friday night we moved her into our bathroom and she made such and awful racket that my husband put her outside. The following evening she came back, we brought her in and put her in the garage and made her a bed. The next day she got out again during the day, but came back in the evening and slept in the garage.
She has now been inside for two full days. She is wonderful with our kids. She stays inside most of the time (except at night where we put her in the garage and when she acts funny--like she's about to have the babies).
We plan on allowing her to deliver her kittens, have her spayed and then keep her for our own as well as one of the kittens. (We have no other pets.) We have a few very trustworthy people interested in the kittens already and have spoken with our local animal shelter who will accept any extras.
I will be posting more specific questions in the appropriate forum, but would appreciate any insight from others who have adopted a pregnant stray.
