Hello everyone. About 3 months ago, my gf was looking out over our deck and saw 2 baby kittens (approx 4-6 weeks old) and we began feeding them as well as the mother for a good month or so and we slowly worked our way closer to them, petting them and talking to them etc. It was a black and a gray kitten who we have since pretty much adopted. The black one let us pet her first but now just runs away if you get to close as she is just very nervous still and the gray one now spends most of the day indoors, however he does like to go outside and play still. These 2 kittens are now about 3-4 months old I would guess but not sure. We have had both of them fixed, shots etc...
We had continued feeding the mom cat outside and we had left our garage open a few times and decided that the garage would be a nice warm haven for the mom to stay warm and safe at night from predators etc so we started feeding her in the garage etc. Well, about a week ago (we knew she was pregnant again), we saw 2 little baby kittens ago (barely able to walk so probably about 2-3-1/2 weeks old) and so we brought them inside, gave them flea baths, fed them the milk replacement and have started to get them on Iams soft food for kittens. They LOVE IT. My gf is still afraid of the fleas, so therefore we have been letting them sleep in our garage in a baby playpen with the mother in the garage as well, to A) stay with the kittens and B) keep her from getting pregnant again as we do not want her to have more kittens as it is just too cold outside for them (30 degree temps at night as we are located in northern WI.) Another reason we don't want them outside is that my gf heard one of the babies meowing loudly outside in our woods while it was raining and she went down and found the white baby, wet, shivering and very stiff, just barely hanging onto life. So that is when we really began caring for these 2 new baby kittens. They are now doing VERY well. The mom seems like she wants to go back outside and we keep her locked in our garage because as mentioned we do not want more babies being had and the problem is that we just got the other babies, their shots etc and I recently was laid off and do not have the extra money to take this mom into the vet to have her shots, get fixed etc. I am wondering if there are any organizations that help pay for these necessities since I am short on funds right now. I'm sure I could drop her off at the humane society but I don't want the cat to get euthanized either. Any information would be helpful.
