Good,I think you are right to put your foot down and speak your mind..... I do hope you get a satisfactory response and some answers tomorrow, look forward to your reply

Seeing my Vet Friday, radiology specialist report said there is no cancer ,no tumors, heart is not enlarged & it's a congestion from either irritant, bronchitis or asthma....well discuss treatment options, not sure if I'm supposed to be happy about it because she's such a nightmare to medicate

Uhhh,it's always something- isn't it?I'll keeping praying for your little baby,it's just heartbreaking
I'm glad to hear it's not cancer or a heart issue. Bronchitis or asthma sound plausible. My boy doesn't have asthma but has issues with his airway so he is on a puffer/ inhaler twice a day. I don't know if Graycie will need it, but it's not too bad and they get used to it. Mine is a nightmare with meds too, but he got used to the puffer eventually. So if they suggest it, she might not absolutely hate it.

Fingers crossed your Friday appointment gives you some clarity and options!

I don't blame you for being upset, especially with something that you noticed but they seemingly did not. While I don't know that this would work for you, I have known both cat and dog owners who were happy with Keppra.

Do you have the option of consulting another neurologist or even a highly proficient, experienced vet? All medical records are your property and have to be given to you if you ask for them, so tests would not have to be rerun.
I'm not against Keppra per se, my issue with it is that it has to be given every 8 hours and I live alone and have to go to work. It will never be 8 hours intervals for him and I'm not sure if the drug will be effective in this case. I'll mention it to the neurologist tomorrow and see what they think.

I've been thinking about switching to the other neurologist in this hospital (it's supposed to be the best specialty hospital in my city), but I'll decide after my conversation with their current neurologist tomorrow. I've just been incredibly irritated with them ever since they suggested I stop the medicine when I asked how to wean it off. It almost sounded like they didn't care if it harmed my boy as long as it meant they were right. Of course he would have seizures if I stopped the drug abruptly. It just didn't sit well with me. I don't have high hopes but I will keep you posted! Thanks so much.

Seizure meds do have to be given according to whatever schedule is necessary and there can be big problems if they are not, so I understand about the schedule. I am still shocked that they told you to just stop the meds.

It wouldn't sit well with me neither - I understand completely,it's pretty mind blowing that a Vet( especially a specialist to boot!?) would suggest such a thing,my goodness .I'll tell you I'm hoping it was really a one off thing ,I can't imagine why they'd respond in such a way ,so seemingly uncaring? Well, some people simply do not know how to speak to people ,do they- we'd say " no bedside manner " and drop them like a hot potatoes if we were the patient & they were our physician, wouldn't we?.

After our exchanges here I think you & I are very much alike so I know you will not tolerate being treated a certain way so I'm with you- if not satisfied then by all means ask to see one of the others at that place,no doubt it's happened before when people opt to switch. Keep in mind what fionasmom fionasmom mentioned regarding all your medical records if you think it's best to go elsewhere- I'm really hoping that Vet has a good explanation for your last conversation,an apology would be nice as well!

Thank you so much for your kind words about my Graycie- I can't imagine Graycie not freaking out with a puffer- anything near her little face terrifies her- she's such a sweet, timid scaredy cat- she was a feral TNR 6 mo old when I brought her home( she's 7now) - who knows what happened to her at such a young age but it took a good 2 yrs before she started to come around without hesitancy, poor little baby.... you could do anything in the world to her ( nails trimmed, brushing, ears cleaned)and she loves it- but not her face, frightens her terribly so pills, nose drops, eye drops are a sheer nightmare. But this thread is about your little love so I'll not go on ,I will give you our update though- again, thank you for being so sweet & kind. With everything you are going through you take the time to encourage someone else with love & conpassion- you're a doll

I continue to pray for you and for darling Taco......
