She's usually both indoor/outdoor cat but she's inside. Yes she only had 5. Is it normal for her to sit outside the box for a while?

Yes, it's normal for mom to take breaks while the kittens sleep.
5 is a large enough litter that you will need to keep an eye out for runts. Please try to weigh them daily to make sure all is well.
Mom can get pregnant again within a week of delivery, and without going into heat. She really must stay inside. Would you like help finding a low cost spay clinic in your area?

A friend let me know a place that does it every second weekend of the month. How long do you think she will have to wait to have it done?
Mama can be spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old. The kittens can be fixed at 8 weeks also.

Yes, put a tube of Advantage II on mom's neck. It will help to kill fleas on the kittens as well. Wash their bedding in hot water to kill flea eggs and larva.
