We just recently adopted a new cat to our family.  We already had two old cats (16 & 19) and our new kitty is only about a year old!  It is thought that he was "dumped" and for the first few days he was ravenous, but now is settling down nicely and seems to get it that he will get enough to eat here.  Right now I am free feeding him dry food.  Apricot (new kitty's name) seems a bit thin, but not emaciated.  So, I am needing advice on how/what to feed him.  I feed my old cats a small serving of canned food twice a day and then a small serving of dry before bed.  I feel that Apricot will probably need more food as he is active, as well as young.  Any ideas would be welcome.

Well, I have multiple pets and not a whole lot of money...I'm not really looking for brand advice, just which type of food would be best for him and how much.  Thanks.
