Take the recycling to the center

Take a load of basement stuff to the dump

Bake a batch of Maple Cut-out Cookies for Thanksgiving (I'll put them in the freezer "naked" and then decorate them on Wednesday night while I'm doing my pies)

Get an estimate for our trees to be pruned up and any not sound limbs removed (we have over 100 foot trees in both front and backyards and windy season is coming.

Get all the ingredients to make our special Christmas spiced vodka (great little recipe from an Ikea cookbook), which we are also making as gifts for several folks.

Laundry!

We need to get some of our trees taken down, too. We have some giant blue spruce trees at the end of our property and one has the top completely broken. It's leaning quite a bit, too, although it's too far away to hit much of anything that can cause damage. But the trees are way too close together since they've matured and we need to take several of them down now, simply to protect what trees will remain.

Spiced vodka? Care to share that recipe, please????

Here you go!  From Ikea's Real Swedish Food Cookbook:
1 bottle (70 cl) of vodka (we make sure to use potato-based vodka)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 sticks of cinnamon
12 whole cloves
12 whole cardamom seeds
1 orange (we make sure to use organic since who wants any pesticides etc. in their drink!)

Procedure: Put 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 2 sticks of cinnamon, 12 whole cloves and 12 whole cardamom seeds into a litre bottle.
Pour on the contents of a 70 cl bottle of vodka, cork the bottle, shake and leave for two days.

Wash an orange.  Cut a long strip of the zest.  Put this into the bottle containing the vodka and spices, and leave for another 24 hours before straining the vodka and serving it, well chilled, at the Christmas table.

We adore this!  I only have a few sips, and that's enough to really enjoy :)

Thanks, Pat! C & P'd! It looks really good!

Mom's funeral is today. I'm OK; actually I think I'm doing pretty well, but I'm sure there will be some moments during the memorial. The family will be going to a local restaurant after the service.

Buy parchment paper. I went to bake cookies last night and had no paper to line my baking sheets.

Wash my car.

Thank you, Pat.

Go for my walk at lunch time

Make the brine for the turkey

Start cleaning the house (Although I've pretty much decided that, at this point, the house is probably as clean as it's going to get. I plan on a quick vacuum, a dusting, a washed kitchen and bathroom floor, and a clean bathroom. And that's it.)

Nothing

Seriously, nothing. After the last couple of weeks, I'm going to go flop on the sofa with a couple of cats and rest.

Came back into work this morning, but not sure if that was a good idea as I'm still coughing my head off.....

Electrician is coming late this afternoon to finish up in the kitchen (under-cab lighting) and to install a new line in the basement for the freezer

Work on the laundry

It's trash night (I hate trash night)
