The only thing that's nearly identical to what I'm experiencing is either Pityriasis lichenoides chronica (PLC) or Pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (the acute form of PLC). But, I'll talk to my doctor about a referral to a dermatologist.

Thanks again!
I had pityriasis rosea once in college and the first doctor I saw had NO clue. Gave me something for a fungal infection and I went back to the clinic a week later when it did NOTHING. The doctor, who was much older than the first, said "um, no, it wouldn't help at all, seeing as how that is pityriasis rosea and not a fungal infection."
I just had to wait it out.

But, from what you say, I think something in the pityriasis family is likely to blame. Just keep an eye on it, go back if it worsens or you get other symptoms like high fever, pain, etc. Did it by any chance start with one larger spot??? If it's pityriasis rosea, it'll fade on its own after a couple weeks.
