My year away from The Cat Site Forums:
Some of you know that I first came on the site mourning the loss of my cat, Sam, after he suddenly passed away in 2009. And I was looking for some place that would understand my grief over Sam’s passing. Not three weeks later, my father passed away…thus 2010 was a haze, pretty much. Those of you who know me know that I do photography both as a hobby and as a career. You’ve seen photographs of my kitties, both my late Sam and now, Wendy, however I do other photography. So, this was my year away from theCatSite forums in pictures.
The year started off (where I live) with the 2010 Vancouver Olympics: Didn’t spend too much time there, other than shooting the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Cauldron lit. My wife managed to coax me out to photograph the Olympic Cauldron.
The Olympic Cauldron at Jack Poole Place in Coal Harbour, Vancouver, BC.
My wife managed to coax me out of the house on my birthday in June to go see Surrey Lake Park where I managed to snap this of a bald eagle with my new Nikon D300s and 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII.
One of my favorite hobbies in conjunction with photography is ornithology This was a pelagic cormorant sitting on a pier post in Coal Harbour.
Sunset from the False Creek Waterfront.
An alley close by our home in Autumn 2010.
Some Christmas abstract shots that I experimented with…
The angel on our Christmas tree that we put up for the first time since 2008.
In December, my former choir got in contact with me to see if I’d like to sing with the choir at their 30th Anniversary Concert Gala, however I was unable to do that due to nodules on my vocal cords that prevent me from singing so I offered to photograph the concert instead.
Here’s one from there.
So this was my year away from the CatSite Forums. Hope you enjoyed.
Hugo.
