That's what I was going to suggest, but as far as I know, you have to "top off" your credit balance fairly often in the U.S.. I rarely use my cell phone, and only have to pay €15 ($19.19) once a year to maintain service. I thought about a "package deal", with flat rate national calls, DSL and cell phone, but when I added up the actual monthly costs, I found I would be paying about three times what I pay now for DSL/land line, prepaid cell phone, and call-by-call international phone calls (about 2 hours a week, using our land line).
