I know I am whining, but at this moment I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.
In the past week or so 5 of our 8 cats have developed URIs. Still not sure how that happened since they are all strictly indoors and we always wash our hands as soon as we walk in the door just in case we have come in contact with something that can make them sick. Anyway, they are pretty miserable. So I as I am getting ready to take one to the vet, I injure myself. Off to the ER for me. The ER doc thinks it is a tear in my achillies tendon. Puts me in this huge Frankenstein style boot and gives me crutches and tells me to make an appointment with an Orthopedic doc. So since I have now missed the vet appointment and can't drive because of my injury, my partner takes the one of the cats to the vet er because she is coughing (the others are not) and seems sicker. The er vet examines her and says she seems fine, but gives her an antibiotic" just in case. "
Refuses to give antibiotic for the other sick cats, says we have to bring them all in. And my job is insisting that I have to be back at work by Friday. (I really doubt I will be healed by then but fingers crossed) AND we are supposed to be having new flooring installed in 2 rooms next week, and I'm supposed to have all the furniture out of those rooms before they start.
I'm just stressing out right now. So worried about the cats. All the sick ones are 8+ years and have never had a cold before. I had been giving them Lactoferrin but when my partner asked the er vet if it was beneficial, he didn't even know what it was and said not to give them anything.
Sorry this was so ridiculously long. I just needed to whine/vent. Fingers crossed that things start to improve soon.

Does your job offer FMLA or short term disability leave or just regular sick / personal / vacation time? If you need time off to recover from your injury, then your job should be able to accommodate that in some way.

I usually work just under 30 hrs a week so I don't qualify for most of that. I do have quite a bit of vacation time saved up, though. It just depends if they are feeling generous enough to approve it or not. Two of my co-workers retired suddenly two weeks ago so we are already short handed. This injury just happened at a REALLY inconvenient time. The babies need me, work needs me, and I really need to get this stuff done at the house.
Oh well, things are bound to get better. And to help that along, I'm off to give the babies a steam to help with their congestion. Thanks guys, it's been nice just having a shoulder to cry on!

Weebeasties I think we can all relate to WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS, my heart goes out to you and your clan.
I've been on FMLA for the past year, likethat is NOT ENOUGH, on 11/15 at work I hit shelving with my forehead and was diagnosed with a concussion AND Friday trying to OPEN a bottle of water I popped something in my wrist. I'm left handed too! I have not left the house ALL WEEKEND sore, angry and tired of it all!

Please make sure you follow through seeing an orthopedic specialist and ask if you need to be off your feet. Or do you have the type of job where you can rest your foot by putting it up on something?

I'm sorry to hear about five of your eight cats being ill. Thinking of you and sending special thoughts and positive vibes your way. :vibes:
