About two weeks ago I rescued a feral kitten from my back yard. For about two days we gave her time to adjust in my room to get use to everything and then I let her run free and she eventually got along we one of my cats. (My other cat is a hard cookie to crack but with time!) On Wednesday night she was sitting in the window with my cat who doesn't like her too much at around 3:00 AM. (I have no idea how they were getting along for so long without fighting) And then it happened. The window CRASHED on this little kittens head and within 30-45 seconds we got her out and the closest animal hospital is about 5 hours away. And we called all the vets in town and they kept redirecting us. But luckly my friend who lives 36 hours away managed to help and she was a very lucky cat. She ended up to only be bleeding out her nose! And no other damage besides what we thought at the time was a "broken nose" We put her in the carrier for the night and since we were waiting 5 hours anyway we decided to go at 8 AM to our local vets. I ended up staying up all night with her and waking her up every 10 minutes. At about 7:30 AM we did call the vet and they told us to give her some water and wet food. We had put the carrier on the ground and this cat tried and started to escape from it! She did end up escaping from it and laying in her bed and eating her normal food which was in our room. We took her to the doctors and found our she had a fractured cheek bone. They gave her a shot for pain and swelling (which did bring all the swelling down) They thought she would of had a cracked or even broken skull. They said she was very lucky to be alive and to have such a small injury. They also sent her home with 7 days of medicine. About 2 days in with meds she was back to her normal crazy self. (If not even crazier.) Tomorrow is her last day of meds and I was wondering if she would be in a lot of pain after that? She seems to be playing just fine (if not more) and eating and going to the bathroom and sleeping just fine. It just worries me that she'll go back to being in pain.
