He's just 10 months old and the thread title pretty much sums up his most worrying symptom. Day before yesterday before bedtime, he started with a sudden bout of vomiting. Vomited twice. Was rather mucus-y. He doesn't vomit very often, but as you know, cats just do that sometimes. If it wasn't for the strange consistency, I wouldn't have worried much. The following morning the husband noticed his "rear end seemed wet". I called my vet right away and scheduled the neuter I've been putting off for him for awhile and asked her about this vomiting/anal mucus issue. She said intestinal blockage could be the problem and to check for a lump or any abnormalities in his abdomen. I didn't feel anything weird so just "kept an eye on him" like she said to do. Well, this is now the third day of very loose-mucus stool (so he is pooping some) and a light "dribble" of this clear mucus stuff that he's got coming from his little butthole most of the time. So gross, I know, but you people seem to understand where the line of "omgGROSS" and "I love my kitty and he's doing something gross". As for urine, I'm not sure one way or the other. I've been trying to follow him around but I haven't seen him go pee. Just the loose yucky stuff about 2 or 3 times a day. He is eating his dinner and dry food without problems.
Thinking of calling the vet back and seeing if he can be seen today or tomorrow.
So, to sum up- does anyone have any idea what would cause the following symptoms:
- Couple of vomits (Two decent size the night it started and two the following day..one medium and one tiny)
- The mucus from the butt and in the stool
-*Slight* lethargy.. getting a little slower as this thing progresses but still playful
- JUMPY as can be.. his brothers or sisters make any out of the norm noise, he JUMPS and hides
- Extra cuddly
- Could have eaten something *from* outside.. lots of stray cats out there. >_<
-Most importantly-
Do you think this is emergency situation?
He is strictly indoor, hasn't had his shots yet or been neutered (21st of this month) and is otherwise healthy, happy, crazy, affectionate and just an amazing little guy.
Any advice would be really helpful. I'm sitting here in tears.
