The creepiest thing about it was if you touched it, it still moved. Rattles and ALL!
4 hours later and the nerves still hadn't died!

You know, it's a darn good thing your Dad was wearing steel toe boots.
I mentioned this to the guy I work with and I said I would have freaked out and jumped off the snake before making the smart decision and not moving, like your Dad did. But then again, I would have been wearing my flip flops and would have been bit anyway

Did your dad end up taking in his trophy to the state park??

And what's the dealio with the news!??!

Well, he called them before going down there and found out they were protected
But in this case, it was self defense. The park is going to go look for the mate because she/he will smell the blood from the other snake and hang around that area for a VERY long time.
They weren't interested in seeing so he didn't go down there. He disposed of it (minus the rattle
to make a keychain out of)
He has refused to be on the news because it would involve the company he works for and he doesn't want any repricussion (sp?) on them because it IS a protected species

I have always looked up to my dad. He's a very intelligent man. I remember as a kid thinking "Is there ANYTHING he DOESN'T know?"
He was strict though but I'm grateful for it. I hated it as a teen but I now see why he was. I used to think "I'll NEVER be like him" and in actuality, I'm just like him in ALOT of ways.. He has no fear of anything and always seems to be calm and in control of every situation no matter what in life.
