Great that he is eating!Since he has been strictly on the C/D canned diet, the vet said there isn't much fiber in there, so he is alternating between wet and dry food (both C/D) today to hopefully induce a BM.
It's really just a myth that dry food cleans their teeth, but a lot of "old school" vets (with all due respect) will still say this. It's probably okay to offer them as treats here and there. I wouldn't give too much at once or too often, but that's just me. You could also try to donate it. Some shelters won't take open bags, but some will if you explain why the bag wasn't finished.
GoHolistic, yes I am a bit concerned with the dry food as well. I have given him a bit, but ensuring he has more than enough water mixed in with his wet food to keep him hydrated and peeing like crazy (lol). I took him back into the vet today as he still did not poop, they gave him a kitty laxative so hoping he'll have a BM over night. I will be cutting out the dry food for sure, I have a whole bag of it though, so maybe just give him a few kibbles here and there for treats? I do like the idea of him getting something crunchy to clean his teeth. What do you think?
LOL. I bet he is!
Yay! He had a BM last night! I am so relieved (and I bet he is too)!
Witty is still doing great! Tomorrow he has his check-up and if everything is healed well and good to go, he can finally be cone-free and have roam of the house again
