So my cat is currently 9 months old, She has been traveling with me on airplanes since she was 12 weeks and recently we took our 5th trip together. She is ok on the plane but she does get stressed out with all the people in the airport. This visit to my parents she also met another cat for the first time. She absolutely loved him but he was 11 weeks old and wanted to play a little more then she did, shes a lil chubby diva : ) . My last day my baby started acted funny, hiding under the bed , not eating at all . I figured maybe she feels we are leaving and shes sad. The flight home went good but I realized when we got home she still wasnt eating, I tried to get her to eat for literally 4 days constantly, nothing, and her mood was so bad it hurt my heart , she looked so sad she wasnt engaged and her new favorite spot was under the bed. I gave her her time and got probably 5 different foods, she declined all, Everyone told me to just wait it out before I go to the vet because she didnt appear to be in any pain. No fever, gums are normal color. Finally i got cat milk and put some hard food in it and she ate it, I was so happy but it wasnt enough. I read so many articles what to do to try avoid going to the vet and traumatizing her more. Best party was the catmilk with soaked hard food ( that made it soft) really gave her a little more energy and her hair looked fluffy again. I then discovered baby food, only for temporary use for sick cats. I mixed pure chicken cat food with some of her own wet food she usually eats and i had to fed her with my finger tip but it worked!!. She is still not fully eating on her own and its been 6 days buttt she is getting in her about 150 to 250 calories in her until she is no longer depressed I will just continue to feed her. I wanted to share this post because I really thought I was going to go crazy with my cat sick and its not easy or affordable to go to the vet always, just remember a lot of patience, lots of love and constant encouragement. Stress is so huge with cats so when you are in times like this just give them space, make sure they are hydrated and keep the faith. Thank goodness today her personality is totally normal and its been 6 days today, im still feeding her but the will to eat has increased.
