Cant find vet wrap around here. Is there an alternative? What about trying the baby socks with vet wrap over them as someone suggested?
Sorry about your poor kitty.
Tried that. Covering the wound is just useless, she'll get it off. I need to find a way to stop her from using her tool to get it off cz its one very effective, very powerful tool with a very determined operatorI think your best bet would be to loosely cover the wound itself, rather than her paws. I had a cat, that has since passed on, that had horrible allergies to soy, if he had just a bite of bread, within hours he'd tear the fur and skin off his neck until it bled.No matter how careful I was, he would sneak a bite of something forbidden every so often. I used to take an old loose cotton sock, cut off the foot, and use the sleeve over his neck as a guard/scarf. It kept him from digging and ripping until the skin healed. I did have several on hand for him as I had to change them daily. I do think the vetrycin will work great on this wound of hers. Please try it, perhaps a small bottle.
On no...I was never intending that anything be wrapped around her neck! The Coban I referenced was for holding on the socks, and the other tube thing was for around her shoulders and chest, and I mentioned it can be tight, so she would need to size it correctly. Sorry for any confusion.
You can use Johnson and Johnson Hurt-Free wrap, its sold at walmart and walgreens, it is exactly like Vet Wrap only it comes in white and its latex free. It sticks to itself and not hair.It might also be referred to as athletic tape or wrap. The only worry that I have following mrsgreenjeans advice is that if it is so tight, it might restrict circulation and also breathing, it being wrapped around her neck. You do need to be able to slip a finger under the binding, it'll do much more harm than good if it is too tight.
Wow! Who'd have ever thought ear mites could cause that! Glad they figured out the cause and he's having surgery to get it all "fixed".View attachment 300298 My cat has this now and the vet says it’s caused by ear mites. He is having surgery tommorrow. There is an actual hole near his ear getting bigger every day.
