Hi all

My cat’s eye area become red and swollen suddenly. I just catched her straching that eye. Do you have any idea what might have happenned ? Her eye was normal at 8PM and I realised the reddness at 10PM. Can it be an eye infection? Its the middle of the night and I am a bit concerned

thank you

Do you have a cone you can put on her to keep her from scratching at her eye?
IMO she needs to be seen by a vet.
Is she indoor/outdoor
How is she acting? Is she acting like her normal self? Is she acting lethargic?

I agree that she needs to be seen by a Vet. Could be so many different things causing this, but with her scratching at it, she could cause so much damage that you definitely need to stop that, so some type of cone is probably necessary...right away.

That is good.. I still think you should take her to the vet or at least call them and email a picture and see what they say it could be. Maybe you could talk to them and not have to bring her In to the vet and they will be able to give you meds. I think you will more than likely have to take her in though.. it looks painful..
Please post updates. I hope she feels better asap

That could be many different things but for sure it is causing her pain and if let alone she can damage the eye with all the scratching. If she was my cat, I would get her looked at right away. You really don’t want to delay with eye problems.
