My cat won't leave me alone

My almost 3 yr old black cat has to be with me, everywhere i go basically lol

can someone explain and give me some info on why? every time i go to use the washroom he follows, then sits in front of my feet waiting until i put him on my lap, and whenever i do, he sits but has his back against my stomach, legs wide open, relaxing haha. when i go in there to get ready, he's right behind me up on a shelf until i leave. Anywhere i go in the house, he's right there too. 

My boyfriend and i live together, and we got the cat together, we are his parents lol, but he doesn't give him the same attention and behavior, as he does to me. 

Why is he like this with me and not his 'dad', why does he need to be by my side everywhere?

Often cats pick one person they attach to.  Usually it is women.  Cats are often "put off" by men's lower sounding voices and they usually walk heavier, too.  Both of these are seen as threatening and aggressive by cats.  Your kitty loves and favors you.  No other reason.
