what should i do my cat dissapired

a few months ago and came back yesterday but he's so different he loved to play with the dogs now he's so shy and scared

and this morning i went out to find him and he's gone

Is this a cat that got out of your home, or one that was an outdoor cat? I know you posted under ferals and strays, but some folks do that even once they have 'domesticated' a cat. How long before he disappeared had you had him? How old is he and is he neutered? A bit of background might be helpful in giving you some tips about what you might be able to do to find him.
