My cat Saphira is 4 years old. She has had about 3 litters and a few miscarriages. She just recently had a litter of four kittens in march, but we kept two. About a month ago she started to kinda growl and swat at them, this is normal for her because she usually gets tired of them bugging her all the time. So the kittens have become quite independent and stay close together. But, about a week ago Saphira started to be really mean to me and my family. She doesn't want any of us petting her or picking her up. We can barely walk past her without her sneering at us. Some of us think she's pregnant, but I disagree, because when she is pregnant she usually is attached to me at the hip. I have no idea what to do. I am a bit concerned. Please, any advice would be helpful!

I suggest taking her to a vet to get her checked out for any health issues. Then get her spayed. She could have something going on that's causing her pain, or hormones could be making her act out. There are just too many possibilities. We can come up with ideas of what might be going on, but there's no way we can give you a diagnosis on the internet.

Hi there Alexis,

I'm so sorry to hear your kitty Saphira is acting out. I have a feeling she is in pain, so her tendency to act "weird" by lashing out at others and not willing to be picked up is indeed a concern. I'd take her to the vet asap because I know I wouldn't like to have her to continue suffering. I'd also seriously look into her well being and get her spayed....cats who are unspayed are at increased risk for mammary cancer, pyometra (uterine infection), as well as uterine and ovarian cancer. In general, female cats that are spayed live longer, healthier, and a less stressful life.

Hope you find a good vet in your area very soon. Any updates will be appreciated! Sending good vibes to Saphira and you!!

^^^ THIS! Get her to a vet as it sounds like she's in pain and then get the sweet dear spayed so she doesn't have to go through all of this again.
