I noticed today while petting my orange male tabby cat that he has developed some kind of firm bump or growth on the back of his neck, just underneath his fur. It is somewhat circular in shape and looks a little crusty. I've spent the past few hours searching the internet for any similar photos and read several definitions on potential parasites or allergies, but I can't seem to find anything that quite looks or sounds like what this is. If anyone can identify this with some type of informed certainty, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. 20180819_024406.jpg 20180819_024356.jpg 20180819_024406.jpg 20180819_024356.jpg

No one but a vet who sees the cat can be certain but my first guess would be an abscess. Is he around other cats? That is a favorite spot for a bite even a play bite, my Patches would often latch onto Alice that way. They looked like they were making kittens even though both were fixed as kittens. All it would take is a small break in the skin to get an abscess going.
