My cat bites my arm or hand while I sleep? Normal?

While I sleep I get awakened to my cat nibbling on my arm or hand like shes trying to get my attention... Is this normal?

I don't know if it's normal but my kitten likes to scratch and bite my hand when I'm asleep. 

I think my cat only does it for attention.

My cat does this when the food bowl is empty in the morning. So I make sure that there is food in the bowl when I go to bed.
